What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is used to regulate or correct the flow of “Qi” to restore health. The practice of inserting very fine needles into the skin to stimulate specific anatomic points in the body (called acupoints or acupuncture points) is for therapeutic purposes. The acupoints (acupuncture points) are stimulated to balance the movement of energy (Qi) in the body to restore health.

What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) includes a range of traditional medical practices originated from China that has developed over several thousand years. TCM practices include theories (Yin-yang, the Five Elements, the human body Meridian system, Zang Fu organ theory, and others), diagnosis and treatments.
TCM theory considers that the human body, mind, and spirit are interrelated and in constant interaction and all of them harmonize each other in a dynamic statue. Unhealthy environment, inappropriate diet, and lifestyle may interrupt those balance.

How to Diagnosis in TCM?

Diagnostic methods in TCM include four basic methods: inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry and palpation. The four diagnostic methods are indispensable and important steps in the differentiation and treatment of syndromes. For example, if a patient complained of low back pain, we may ask him: how long do you have it? What caused it? What is the nature of pain? We may palpate it to determine where it’s located and what meridian affected by it; we also feel the pulse and look at the tongue. After that, we will analyze the signs and symptoms we collected and make a diagnosis, and then choose best treatment for his conditions.

What is TCM treatment?

A key to success in TCM is the treatment of each patient as an individual.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been used for centuries and they are major aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which focuses on restoring a balance of energy, body, and spirit to maintain health rather than treating a particular disease or medical condition.
Common treatment methods in TCM are acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese massage, cupping, dietary suggestions and Guasha.

What should I feel during acupuncture treatment?

Acupuncture needles are very thin and solid and often described as being not much thicker than a human hair. Most patients feel no pain at all as the needles are inserted; some feel only a mild ache, pressure, numbness; some feel hot, cold, itching.
All these feelings are normal and it indicates Qi (Energy) is flowing in the body.
In our clinic, we only use FDA approved, disposable needles.

For example, the practitioner designs a remedy using one or two main ingredients that target the illness, and then adds many other ingredients to adjust the formula. Prescribing an herbal formula require great experience and knowledge.
There are over 800 herbs in our clinic. we can prescribe patent herbs, powder herbs, raw herbs and herbal tea for you based on your special conditions and constitution.

What is Chinese herb medicine?

Chinese herbal medicine developed with Chinese culture and it has been used to treat many different conditions alone and also speeds up acupuncture effects.  The practitioner usually uses a variety of herbs, in different combinations, to restore balance to the body.
